So true. I don't know how often I hear a song that puts into words my feelings.
Says the words I couldn't find.
Even just the melody can say the feelings in your soul.
There's something magical about it.

Land of Enchantment.

I am in Albuquerque for the week. This is the year my whole family makes the treck to New Mexico to spend Thanksgiving together. Which means this week is bound to be loud, crazy and full of laughter and love. Nothing makes my heart happier than to be with my family. I have been beyond blessed with such a wonderful one. I may be in some this week doing little posts or I may put the computer away and just enjoy a week with the Witts. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and get to spend it with the ones you love!

My heart stops when you look at me

I must say I love these versions of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream". I especially love the lyric changes in the second video.

Dear Ryalnd and Brenley

There are so many things I want to say to you. And one day I will. But for now, these songs will have to do:

This last weekend I went to the Smoky Mountains here in TN with some of my favorite people here in Nashville. It was an amazing weekend filled with relaxing, hot tubbing, cards, mountain excursions, and laughing, lots and lots of laughing. It was just what all of us needed. A chance to get to know each other better and leave the things in Nashville behind and just escape. I have been beyond blessed with friends that are quickly becoming family. Here are some pics from the weekend:

Take Me Out

I just can't get over how sick this is. Oh what I would do to be a full time musician
and do stuff like this as a living

For Good

This song always makes me cry. There are so many people that come to mind. Some who have hurt me, some that have changed me, some that have been by my side through everything. All who I am glad to have known, blessed to have known.

"Because I knew you, I have been changed for good"

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it. ~William Styron, interview, Writers at Work,

It's a cold rainy day here in Nashville and it is making me just want to curl up in my bed and read and read and read. To get lost in stories of other worlds, of adventure and love and mystery. So today I wondered around the bookstore and found so many books I want to read. So, if you feel like buying me a random gift ;) here are the ones currently on my list:

1. Blue Like Jazz- Donald Miller
2. Wuthering Heights- Charlotte Bronte
3. Burn- Ted Dekkar
4. Immanuels Veins- Ted Dekkar
5. Eat Pray Love
6. The Magicians
7. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
8. Oath- Frank Peretti
9. The Shack
10. The Zombie Survival Guide

{Dear John}

"Well maybe it's me and my blind optimism to blame
Maybe it's you and your sick need to give love then take it away
And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors who don't understand
And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said 'run as fast as you can'"
Dear John- Taylor Swift

Thankful

I know I am 10 days late but for the rest of this month I am going to post one thing I am thankful for each day. Some days there might be multiple things.

Today:
$5 albums on Amazon (I got the new Maroon 5 album and the new Taylor Swift album. Also, I can't believe I just typed that I bought a Taylor Swift album)

English tea
"Free" laundry. I love not having to use quarters to do my laundry. It's the little things.

Worlds Worse Pen Pal

Dear girls on my pen pal list,
If you have sent me a letter, I've LOVED it. And have written you back. What I have not done is remembered to put them in my car in the morning or buy more stamps. I'M SORRY! I promise by next week they will be in the mail!

Sincerely,
me

2010 Men Suck Movie Marathon

Last night me and some of my favorite girls here in Nashville got together to have a 2010 Men Suck Movie Marathon.
Yes I understand that this might be a little extreme, and that not ALL men actually suck. But let's be honest. Some REALLY REALLY do. And this day was created because of those men. The men that have broken our hearts, that have used us, treated us badly. And let me tell you, it was the funnest day I've had since I've been here.
We started out with brunch at this awesome place here in Nash called the Pfunky Griddle. You cook your own breakfast on a skillet built into the table. Super fun and super good.
Then we headed on over to Liz's house where she had prepared ALL kinds of tasty treats! We popped in the first movie, 500 Days of Summer (which turned out to be a HORRIBLE choice, it's just too real). Then we had a little share time, time for each of us to share our most recent heartbreak, to relate to each other, and to just plain vent.
We decided we needed a movie with ZERO love in it, so we put in The Dark Knight. Lot of Christian Bale, crazies and stuff exploding. It was perfect.
The night ended with a RIDICULOUS amount of laughing, and some tears, but mostly laughing. It was just what all of us needed.

P.s. I do NOT want to sound like a bitter girl who thinks all men are scum. I am NOT I have plenty, plenty of men in my life who are incredible and they far outweigh the ones who aren't.

I don't feel it anymore

Hold on this will hurt more than anything has before
What it was, what it was, what it was
I've brought this on us more than anyone could ignore
What I've done, what I've done, what I've done

I've worked for so long just to see you mess around
What you've done, what you've done, what you've done
I want back the years that you took when I was young
I was young, I was young, but it's done

Oh take it all away
I don't feel it anymore
Oh take it all away
Oh take it all away
I don't feel it anymore
Oh take it all away

We'll fall just like stars being hung by only string
Everything, everything, here is gone
No map can direct how to ever make it home
We're alone, we're alone, we're alone

Oh take it all away
I don't feel it anymore
Oh take it all away

Just some simple truths

November is here!!

I CANNOT believe it is November 1st. This year has just gone by so fast. It has been almost 6 months since I graduated from college! What?! I am definitely not where I thought I would be 6 months after graduating, but I am learning that life rarely/never is how I think it will be. I am still jobless, interning at a new place, and dealing with a lot of big "post grad" questions. Things like "why am I here?" "What am I doing?" "Do I even want to do this anymore?". But I am trying to just enjoy today and to look forward to the things THIS month has to bring. And let me tell you it's going to bring GREAT things! Like:

1. Mid November I am going on a little getaway with a group of amazing people that are quickly becoming my family here in Nashville. We are going to the Smokies to an AMAZING cabin. This weekend will be PERFECT! It will be filled with deep, good conversations, games, amazing scenery, food, laughter, lots of laughter, and memories forever. I just can't wait. HURRY UP!

2. HARRY POTTER comes out in 18 days! (you might say I am excited). I. cannot. wait. It's going to just be incredible. They have started playing more commercials for it and everytime I stop whatever I'm doing and watch.

3. Brooke Fraser (see video post below) is coming to town!! It was sold out and I was super bummed, but I learned tonight that my friend has extra tickets!! It's going to be an amazing night filled with incredible tunes.

4. Thanksgiving. Food. Family. New Mexico. This is the year the ENTIRE family gets together for Thanksgiving. I absolutely adore my family and know it's bound to be a few days of non stop laughing. I know that these times are going to start becoming more and more rare as we all grow up and start our own lives and families so I cherish every second I get to spend with all of them.

These are just the things that are currently on my calendar in November, I'm sure more will come up. Needless to say, I am excited about this month!

What are you looking forward to this month?

Halloween

I hope you all had a good Halloween! I went to a party on Saturday night since Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, and that interfered with church, but let's be honest, this town celebrated ALL WEEKEND LONG! Downtown was CRAZY starting Friday and didn't stop till this morning.

I decided to be Tom Cruise from Risky Business. It was the most comfortable costume ever! But, not the warmest. Anyway, here are a few pictures from the night!

What did you guys dress up as for Halloween?
